PRACTICAL SKILLS TESTING

This course pertains to objectives found in Chapter 7 of NFPA 472 – 2013 Edition

Standard for Competency of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction incidents.

 

This course is designed for students who have successfully completed a Division of Fire Safety approved Hazardous Materials Technician class and are ready for the practical skills testing process required for certification. This program addresses objectives found in Chapter 7 of NFPA 472 - 2013 edition and are listed in the Hazardous Materials Technician Practical Skills. Our instructors will travel across the State to the course site and perform the required practical skills per the Division's testing procedures. Only Division of Fire Safety approved and certified lead and assisting evaluators will administer the practical skills exam.

 

Local Emergency Training Specialist will provide qualified and certified lead and assisting evaluators to meet the requirements of practical skills certification testing.

  • CO meter, CGI, 02 or multi-gas meter

  • WMD monitor or equivalent

  • NI0SH pocket guide

  • PID

  • PH Meter and test strips 

  • Pipette

  • Personal RAD meter

  • Chemical classifier kit

  • Decon supplies

  • Bung wrench

  • Sampling equipment

  • Decontamination equipment

  • A-Kit for 150lbs  

  • 55 gallon drum leak simulator

  • 306 dome leak simulator 

  • Over pack drum

  • Plug and dike material

  • Chemical/product for sampling and testing

 

Local Emergency Training Specialists understand the Division of Fire Safety's expectations and requirements for practical skill certification testing. LETS has been administering the alternative compliance practical skills exams for Firefighter I & II certification and will work closely with the Division of Fire Safety to ensure the practical skills testing process follows all required procedures to ensure students are eligible for certification.

 

Classes may have a maximum of 30 students. Class contacts and locations for the courses will be determined by LETS.
