The Structural Firefighting course begins with a classroom presentation describing fire behavior, thermal layering, fire attack methods, ventilation practices, RIT teams, and fire ground strategies and tactics. After the classroom portion of the course is presented, students will participate in controlled live fire evolutions. Proper fire control techniques using direct and indirect fire attack methods are performed in the evolutions. Students are provided with an opportunity to develop and practice proper fire control techniques, proper search techniques, as well as different ventilation practices.
